running out of good titles

Apparently Hartley has been teething. I noticed she had been drooling. She's been cuddlier than normal. Sleepier than normal. She walks around most of the time with a pacifier in her mouth and Emmie and her blanket slung over her shoulder. It's sad, but funny at the same time. She also takes a lot of breaks and lays on the floor.
Thursday night I noticed one of her molars was in. Over the weekend, another popped through. And today has been pretty miserable. We cuddled the majority of the morning. She rested from 12pm-5pm.
So I sewed. :)
She was pretty happy when she got up, so we went outside. The yappy dogs were out and Hartley insisted on chasing them "puppyyyy puppyyyy!"
Then we played with a ball. She says it pretty southern already. "Bawwl." Today she said circle "irkah," star "arhh," and Barbie.
Mema came over after dinner and noticed Hartley felt a little warm.
She was right. During/after her bath she was feverish and chilly.
Hopefully it's just teething and maybe the other molars will come in soon. I just don't understand how we never even noticed the first 2 molars!
In other news, Marshall's flowers are blooming around the yard. He's also planted some vegetables. And our neighbors were curious about the "square" in our yard.
Mounds of dirt, with a log border. What would you think?

We've decided it would make a great pet cemetery.

not a baby anymore :(

I really can't call Hartley a baby anymore. She's a full-fledged, getting into everything toddler. I had nursery this morning in church. Newborns through 2 or 3 are in the same room, although they are divided by screen. I was curious to see how Hartley did with the big kids, unfortunately she could also see me and that was upsetting for her. Instead, she helped me with the babies. And she really was helpful!
After we pulled off bandaids
She's going to be a great big sister one day. She kept pointing and saying "baybee" and was very careful with them. And I'm so surprised she didn't need to be held! There were 4 babies and she was so content playing around them! She didn't get jealous of me feeding or holding them either.
Watching her play (and roll around on baby mats) made me realize how big she's gotten. :(
We've tried to get video of her saying the blessing before, but it wasn't the best attempt. We'll try again soon because she's helping even more! She holds our hands, tucks her chin in, and says gibberish in a lower tone like her Daddy. We have to contain our laughter before dinner a lot. :)

one dollah!

A few weeks ago, Marshall and I decided that we needed to clear out space/make some money so we can be debt freeeeee! Mainly we just want to pay off his multi-ten-thousand student loan.. aka "the investment." And then his sister, Rebecca, announced she wanted to throw a multi-family yardsale. We were in!
I started making tons of baby shoes to sell, too. (I only sold one. To another yardseller.)
And the guest room became the dumping ground for everything unused and unwanted. I mean, everything that could be loved by someone else. Somewhere else.
We set everything up last night. About an hour before the monsoon came through. Fortunately the majority was protected under the carport.
The sale started at 8am, even though people were there at 6:45 IN THE MORNING. Everybody did fairly well. I made right at $100!!! Our sale was so popular, even a local celebrity stopped by. Mollyanne will be the only reader appreciative of the following picture..
Dan Cathy was Marshall's grandmother's yardboy back in the day. And Rebecca now lives in her house. He stopped by to, well, smell the roses! Not really.. but you know what I mean!

So. It was a successful yardsale and we probably won't have another until all the kids are grown and there aren't any more babies around here.

dirt & ears

We've been grilling pizza around here all the time! It's my favorite! It's also pretty easy because we can whip up a batch of dough in a few minutes, use some and freeze the rest for another night. So good with fresh mozzarella. And fresh basil from our garden. Soon our tomatoes will be ready and we can use those too!
We celebrated Marshall's birthday on Sunday, as well as Mother's Day. Doesn't he look tan? He's got a farmer's tan, so underneath that shirt is trashy whiteness.
Hartley's still singing "happeeey". She got really excited while we were singing to Marshall! She almost got the chance to blow out the candles, but Caleb ran in and beat her to it! We let her try the next night.
It's ridiculous how similar Hartley and Marshall are. They love the same foods- especially Marshall's traditional birthday Shoney's Strawberry Pie. She has lately found a love for salsa!

Hartley is also catching up with her cousins. That age gap is closing in and it's so exciting to watch her play and interact with the cousins.
I'm trying to figure out what to do what all that hair! It has no body at all. Is it too early for a perm?
Marshall taught her how to smell flowers. Her facial expression is just the cutest!
Hartley loves playing outside in the dirt and throwing balls. Our little tomboy.
Anyway. A few weeks ago, I had a really bad vertigo attack. Since then I've just felt susceptible to dizziness and tilting. Also- I've had muffled hearing since.. umm... 2007. It's not all the time, but it's everyday and it's annoying. So I went to the ENT this morning.
I'm not dying. But I do have a crooked nose (what??), that causes a deviated septum, and I'm allergic to something which inflames my sinuses, and that blocks my eustachian tubes. Which makes my hearing muffled. If that makes any sense.
This is very exciting for me because I've always been the patient not allergic to anything/any meds and I've never broken a bone in my body. Until now! Now I have an allergy. And I think I should probably have a nose job to correct my crookedness.
We grow big cheeks in the Moore family
So, I've been trying to figure out my allergy. My Eustachian Tube Dysfunction began in 2007. I got married. Maybe I'm allergic to Marshall- but of course, I didn't have this problem while we dated. We moved into a new apartment. But we've moved again and the problem still persists. Which leads me to the ultimate dilemma.
We adopted Maddie in 2007. So I must be allergic to dogs! Isn't this exciting!
I also suffer from Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. You know, BPPV. But I've got exercises to overcome that.
I've also got a lot of nasal sprays to flush out allergens. Yippee!

happy birthday Marshall/Daddy!

Marshall turned the big 2-9 today! Gosh, he's old. We've been singing happy birthday for the past week and Hartley has gotten down "happeeey [gibberish]." She loves playing with balls and found a football in the laundry room this morning. So we practiced saying "touchdown."

Football season will be here before we know it! She's going to enjoy it this year!

15 month videos

Hartley has been saying the blessing with us lately. She'll hold her hands, bow her head for a second, and say "bessah." That means blessing.
We also talk about trucks. And practice saying please and thank you.
And cheering on the Dogs!

play by play

Hartley is at an amazing stage. She's copying everything we do. And continues to get into everything. So, I thought I'd give you a quick play-by-play of what she's usually doing around the house.

Pull puzzles off table. Place pieces close to their proper places.

Pull magazines off coffee table. Unsuccessfully place sticker on herself. Look at me, say something. With sticker stuck to her chin. Walk around Sassy to chair. Walk back around to the coffee table and put sticker back on magazine. Pick up magazines. Love and kiss on them. "puppy puppy puppy puppy" Flip pages. Point "puppy!" Bring me magazine and say something. There is, in fact, a puppy on the cover. Take back the magazine and sit at my feet, flipping through again.

Head over to the window. Bang, talk, put her mouth to the window. Walk to her table and get in her chair. All the while, still talking. I can pick out "baby." Watch Sesame Street briefly before realizing Cheerios are on the table. Realize I'm not watching, stand up in chair. Smile while I tell her to sit on her bottom. Finally sit on her bottom. Tests me 3 more times and tries to snap like I do while I count to 3. Tests me one more time. And a few more times. :)

Feed me cheerios while I sit with her.

A few minutes elapse.

Sitting with mey7 at6 computer. Helps type. Bends ballyyypoint pen and takes cap off. Says "ehhh!" when taking cap off. Draws on paper.

I sigh.
