If you were thinking a baby... well, don't get your hopes up. Mine definitely aren't. 

Nope, just some free time to sew my own monogrammed pillow shams!!

Well, ya just did..

Hartley learned "Little Gray Donkey" around Christmas and we would sing it occasionally in the past few months. We sing it multiple times a day now.

 They look exceptionally lovely in their new home now. :)

it's business time.

When we decided we would start redoing furniture, we had no idea wedding season would be upon us as well. I've been sewing garter after garter for a bride that wants all the girls in the wedding party to wear them. And another bride wanted her flower girls to carry 'here come the bride' signs. Painting and sewing. I feel like that's all I've been doing the past month.

But we've also been working on furniture. We managed to get mid-sanding pictures of a dresser and chest. They were eventually painted our creamy white trim color and then distressed and glazed. We considered keeping them... but some friends quickly snatched them up. And we never got after pictures. :)

Then I found this "antique" chest 2 weeks ago. I went to work, quickly patching, sanding, priming and painting. Usually Marshall is the glazer. I decided that I wanted to make this my project and attempt to do everything by myself.

Well, last night I made him repaint and reglaze because I obviously am a horrible glazer.

And he did a much better job.

 

It looks much better in natural lighting. :) 

I would say it's ready to be sealed. Then put the existing handles and 2 new knobs back.

There were only 4 handles.. and 5 drawers so I found some cute mustardy knobs at HobLob. We shall see how they look. But I definitely wanted to keep the original hardware!

I snagged another piece of furniture at Goodwill last week. A dining table for only $25.

It received it's first coat of primer last night and will be getting another one as soon as I quit blogging. :)

The table will be white and I'm going to find 3 more chairs and paint them a soft teal. The chairs will all be different but the color will give it a more cohesive look. I think it's going to be neat!

We've had a rocker sitting in our garage for months now and I finally painted it a deep teal over the weekend. It had been sitting outside the pregnancy center for at least a year and nobody was going to do anything with it. So I asked if I could take it..

Hartley saw me with the camera and said she wanted to cheese. So, a photoshoot..

And a hand.

And one really eclectic rocker that we can hopefully use someday.

Yay for projects- but I'm so exhausted and ready for a break. :)

singing and a photo dump

Okay, that title sounded a little disturbing..

We have a slew of photo albums that haven't been touched in at least a month. Boo. BUT! It's strange to look through a handful and realize, oh my goodness, Hartley has changed so much in just a few weeks.

We went to Athens in March to visit the Bates & Gurleys. On the long ride home we stopped at Sonic and enjoyed ice cream and a slush..

The next picture involves Hartley showcasing her dance skills. And singing to her ice cream??

Then we had Easter and all the many egg hunts! We met Anna and Caleb at CFA and got many coupons!!

We also went to Mema's church and got pictures with the Easter bunnies. We were apparently going through a pig tails phase around then...

We had an awesome Egg Drop at our church! A helicopter dropped hundreds of plastic eggs. It felt like the Hunger Games as we anticipated the countdown and then rushed to get our weapons of choice eggs.

Nobody died.

Momma and Jim came for a brief visit, too! Hartley took pictures with them one day, but everybody blended in with the house. Hartley was topless and Momma and Jim had on yellow shirts. We took another picture. Obviously.

Hartley is going through another naked phase. I usually find her in the morning without her pajamas on. Sometimes she's pooped in her pull-up and taken it off. Yesterday morning I opened her door, only to realize there was a chunk of poop right in front of the door that got smeared on the floor and stuck underneath the door. Fun times..

Part of this pull-up removal phase is that she can.not.stand to be wet anymore. A definite perk of potty training, but it doesn't help when she wakes up during the night multiple times because she's peed.

I've been freezer cooking a lot!

Chicken enchiladas and chicken casseroles! And more rice than I know what to do with.. Why can't I measure that correctly??

And one amazing eater (for the most part). Last week (or sometime recently?) we had leftover bridal shower food, so Hartley had a lunch consisting of red bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots and broccoli. She ate every bit and asked for seconds and thirds.

We love hearing Hartley sing these days, too. She loves singing certain parts of "Jesus Loves Me." She didn't do it in this video, but often she sings in a French accent- "Le Bible tell me soooo!"

And in other news- our furniture business is slowly expanding! We've been bad about taking pictures, but we've redone 2 sets of dressers and chests. AND sold them! We got a new chest last week and it's pretty close to being done. We've also gotten a good deal of advertising from friends, so who knows where this may take us!

hartleyisms

While playing with my rotary cutter (safely) on the table, "I'm a surg-gen!"

I was cutting some fabric to cover magnets and Hartley was watching. All of a sudden, "Oh no! Oh no! My bag! My bag!" I was using the same fabric as her beloved pull-up bag/purse and she thought I had ruined her bag.

At lunch, "I need more coupons!" Cucumbers, Hartley, those are cu-cum-bers.

"My ternum right dere." (pointing to center of her chest, her sternum)

We were watching a bit on Sesame Street about a girl baking cookies with her mom and then sharing them with a daycare class. At the end the girl said, "I like cooking and I like sharing." Hartley butted in and said, "I like cookies!" Then proceeded to tell me that we get cookies out of the oven and it's [held up "stop sign" hands] HOT.

We dogsat Kirby a few weeks ago. A few days after Kirby went home, Hartley asked "where's my boy?" What's your boy's name? "Turby boy. I luf my Turby. Turby luf me."

She said something similar about a friend from church. "I luf my Ms. Natosha. My Ms. Natosha luf me."

"Oh doodness!"

Marshall always tells us, "I love my girls!" Hartley says, "I luf my boys and durls."

We are told "Pease move!" when she potties. She likes her privacy now.

"I want some babadoo chips." (BBQ)

I gave her a little trim, telling her that I was giving her a bob. Later she told me, "I got Bob Builder hair!"

She likes stalling before bedtime. We often hear "I need tream for my booboos" or "I need PURPLE medicine." Lately if she's coughed, she'll tell me "I'm ok!"



We're attempting to keep up with more "Hartleyisms" because she's so funny and cute at this stage. And clearly saying all kinds of crazy things! We want to be able to remember them years from now and embarrass her when she gets married. :)
